At school I was taught about puberty before it happened.
I knew what to expect when my period started at the age of 12 and I discussed it with my Mum and friends.
At school I was taught about pregnancy.
When I first saw that blue line on the pregnancy test, I had an understanding of the next 9 months of my life and at each stage, I discussed it with friends, family, midwives and I felt completely supported.
My limited understanding of the menopause was that it happened when your periods stopped.
My periods didn’t stop.
At the beginning of my journey there was no education, discussion or support for what was ahead of me for the next 8+ years.
I don’t want this to be the same for others.
